Both Socks and Scampi have now been neutered, however Socks will take a bit longer to recover than Scampi due to her stitches, and she got a small infection too so she has to have her collar on for 2 weeks until everything has heeled properly!
The day we brought her home after her operation, she was not a happy kitty and refused to keep her collar on! So I came up with an ingenious solution and we used her little harness to attach her collar to so they was no way she could get it off or reach and lick her stitches and it wasn't too tight around her neck either. Also we did cut the collar to make it a bit shorter so she could eat a little easier and could see more easily too - this really calmed her down and she relaxed and we could all get on with getting through the days without all being stressed out!
We gave her a hot water bottle (well it was warm lavender beans teddy) which she loved to cuddle up with in the evenings and we made sure she had a warm cosy bed at night too!
Scampi is being a great brother looking after his sister, and he has been keeping her coat nice and clean by licking her - especially her face where she can't reach!
