About the Classes
"FLAWLESS" FOCUS TRAINING
Our Focus training classes are designed to help strengthen the trust and relationship between owner and dog. The classes are all designed around the handler focusing the dog onto themselves, and learning to distract the dog successfully away from something back onto the handler, using the basic technique of "distract", "mark" and "reward" the desired behaviour.
The classes will cover the following:
- Obedience training, ie. Position work
- Reinforcing calm & relaxed behaviours
- Wait and/or Stay commands
- Focus games and exercises
- Clicker training work for the more advanced handler
OWNER RESPONSIBILITY
· Dog owner/handler is responsible for their dog at all times during training classes, which includes ensuring that the dog does not become a safety risk towards other dog handlers, dogs or instructors in the class.
· Dog owner/handler is responsible for the cleanliness and removal of excrement that their dog causes.
· Only one handler per dog, however other family members can take turns handling.
Family members and children are welcome. For the safety of all human and dogs in the classes, please follow these guidelines:
- Children under 18 must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times
- No yelling or running will be permitted
- Children must not approach or pet any other dog in class since not all dogs are comfortable around children.
LIABILITY
· The instructor reserves the right to remove a dog from training at any time before or during its term, if the instructor determines that a danger exists to the health and safety of other individuals, instructor or dogs in the classes.
· Owner understands and recognises that there may be a risk of injury or illness in any environment associated with group training classes.
· Owner agrees to take full responsibility for the action of their dog, themselves and family members, before, after and during classes.
· At no time will the instructor be liable or responsible for the actions of the owner, the dog or any other person accompanying them to class.
· Owner understands that any photos and videos taken during training classes may be used on social media/website pages or for use in future training videos. If the owner wishes to not be included in these, please notify training instructors before training begins.
CONTINUED SUPPORT
· All class attendees will be invited to a closed Facebook group to allow discussions between members and trainers as well as a platform for uploading training videos to help with continued training at home.
· Dog owners should understand that dog training does not just mean attending classes – training a dog is a long term commitment and owners must put in 100% effort outside of classes should they want to see positive results.
· Force Free Dog Training classes provide the owners with the knowledge and methods for basic dog training, obedience, manners, loose lead walking and safe play, with the aim for owners to be able to continue to practice and perfect these methods at home long term.
